Paraskevas Mageiras was born in 1965 in the village Kalandra, Chalkidiki. He graduated at the T.E.I. (Technologial Educational Institution) in Thessaloniki. In 1982 he created his first sculptures, made out of stone. His work is inspired and influenced by the classical art of the Hellenic era. It is his effort to capture the magic of this art in his sculptures. In 1984 he followed the trace of the Dutch artist Hans van Beek by learning about his way of drawings. In 1988 Paraskevas met the sculptor Georgios Sotiriou. Sotiriou became his mentor and massively influenced his further methods of sculpturing.
Paraskevas Mageiras became member of ’SKETBE’ in 2000, member of ’ETTE’ in 2003 and also a member of ’State of MS’ since 2010. Then as now he realized many solo exhibitions as well as exhibitions in artistic communities.
His work primarily consists of shell limestone and marble. Many of his sculptures are located in private collections in Greece and abroad. So far he published six books and is responsible for various archeological studies concerning the epochs of the Stone Age until the modern era in the area of Kassandra.
Is workshop and his private gallery is located in his village Kalandra on the peninsula Kassandra in Chalkidiki.
